THE ONTARIO COALITION FOR SCHOOL LIBRARIES
AT THE ONTARIO PRINCIPALS' CONFERENCE
The Ontario Principals' Council had its annual conference in Toronto November 11-13 and the Ontario Coalition for School Libraries was there. The Coalition's double booth besides delivering the Coalition's message featured programs that the Ontario Library Association is sponsoring. These included the Association's six reading programs that presently have over 150,000 children and young people reading across the province, the Ontario Digital Library which will bring access to electronic information to students even in the most remote communities of Ontario, and professional materials from Character Education to Reading and Literacy from which teachers and librarians can develop instructional ideas.

The principal reason for the booth still remained the opportunity it gave members of the Coalition to talk with principals about school libraries. And talk they did -- with hundreds of delegates. Among prominent Coalition volunteers who took part were co-chairs Catherine Mitchell from Tundra Books and OLA 2003 President Liz Kerr. Helena Aalto and Marsha Skrypuch from the Canadian Coalition for School Libraries were present, as was Peter Rogers from the Ontario Digital Library Project.
